Performing Arts News

Emma Gelsthorpe (Y8) took part in a special performance of Shakespeare's Henry V at Victoria Hall in Sheffield.

  • Emma joined the Senior Orchestra from Sheffield Music Hub, to narrate sections of the play to a packed audience of over 200. She performed superbly and was a credit to the school. If you would like to find out more about music making opportunities for your child please talk to Mr Cooke or visit, www.sheffield.gov.uk/music

  • The new arrivals class have been working with music leaders, Liam Power and Laura Lister from Sheffield Music Hub. In particular, Liam has been doing percussion sessions with the group. They have built up a Samba performance ready to take part in the Music for Youth Regional Festival at Firth Hall, Sheffield University. This is a great opportunity for the group and they have been working hard to put the performance together. All being well, it could lead on to performances at Birmingham Symphony Hall or even London's Royal Albert Hall! See www.mfy.org.uk for more details.

  • Auditions for Grease are now completed – well done to everyone who auditioned (over fifty students!) There was some amazing talent among the students – acting, dancing and singing - it was great to see and all the staff involved were really impressed. The hard work of rehearsals is now about to begin for all the cast and they will be busy learning songs, dance moves and all their lines before the performances in October. Good luck with the rehearsals!
