We offer the overwhelming majority of students a broad and balanced curriculum in Key Stage 3 (Years 7 and 8).

Subjects include: English, Mathematics, Science, PE, PSHRE (Personal, Social, Health and Religious Education), Humanities (History and Geography), Spanish, Technology, IT and Performing Arts

A small number of students may receive a more limited curriculum to allow more teaching time for English and Mathematics.

All students are taught in ability sets/bands and the core curriculum of English, Mathematics and Science represents a majority of all taught time.

Year 9 is a transitional year in which students begin GCSE in core subjects but continue to study a range of others to prepare themselves for the options process.

Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11)

Most students study GCSEs in Years 10 and 11 across a broad range of subjects leading to final examinations in the summer of Year 11.

GCSE subjects include a core curriculum of English, Mathematics, Science, PE, PSHRE (Personal, Social, Health and Religious Education) and a Humanities subject, which is complemented by a range of other GCSEs. A small number of students have the opportunity to take vocational courses, some of which are taught at offsite locations. Students also complete a two week work experience placement during Year 10 and continue to have access to a wide range of extension and enrichment activities.

Careers guidance is also a critical part of the curriculum across all key stages, but even more so in key stage 4, as we prepare students for the next step along their journey as life-long learners.
